CONTAINERS
When we say garden containers you may immediately think of
a patio or balcony. You may also add containers to flower
beds or place them among shrubs. Adding containers to the
garden creates a special accent; it adds height, color and
creates a focal point.
Easy tips:
Good soil mix is essential. Use a soil mix by itself or, I
prefer to add Perlite and Vermiculate to my soil mix for better
drainage and water retention. Water. Make sure your containers
get plenty of water. Containers dry out very quickly, especially
in summer. Containers located in direct sun may require daily
watering.
Always plant in the largest container possible. The bigger
the container the easier it will be to maintain the plants
in it.
Plant selection. Depending on the size of the container,
you can grow just about any plant, shrub or tree in a container.
Use it for seasonal accents.
Space. If planting more than one plant per container, leave
plenty of space for the plants to grow and stay healthy. |
